Thank you so much.....

Thank you so much.....
I just wanted to thank you for your determination to continue despite the unnecessarily cruel comments people make. Whilst constructive criticism can be helpful, insults rarely are. When my son was born he slept for no more than 20mins at a time and only then when held. I was assured he was 'normal' and I ended up hospitalised for 2 months with severe postnatal depression and psychosis - mainly due to sleep deprivation. Whilst in hospital I saw your tv programme (July 2010) and on discharge bought your book and insisted on a hospital referra...

A Success Story in Sevenoaks

I was recently in Sevenoaks with a delightful little 1 year old who has had such horrendous reflux that at one stage she dropped in weight from the 75th to under the 4th centile and still didn't get diagnosed!! Thankfully she is now eating well but does not drink milk at all - She was exclusively breast fed as she refused a bottle, but she even refused the breast from 10 months. Solid food was the way forward for her although only dry finger food, not puréed or mashed slop of any sort. However, after teaching her the art of independent s...

Screen Test for Alison!!

Screen Test for Alison!!
The Magic Sleep Fairy has been invited to attend a screen test for a new USA TV show working with A-List celebrities and their troublesome tots. All very exciting in one way, but sad in another that it just highlights the fact that no matter who you are or how much money you have - life for parents today is TOUGH! There is no real help, guidance, support and advice that actually works within the reality of the way we live in our Western World today. Mostly all that new parents are offered is strict but unrealistic guidelines, conflicting advic...

Remove The Dummy

Remove The Dummy
The actual fear and unimaginable thought of taking away your baby or toddler's beloved dummy is often the thing that prevents many parents from actually doing it. However, for many, following my advice can induce a sense of confidence and belief which enables parents to find the courage to implement my 'Magic Dummy Fairy' steps. With all the dummies posted safely off to 'Dummy-Land', using my sleep-training technique and enduring the first 24 hours of being 'dummy-free' almost everyone has said that it was much easier than they had imagined i...

Reflux Misdiagnosed

Reflux Misdiagnosed
Ironic - my persistent cough was recently MISDIAGNOSED by a GP as Reflux!! All those poor babies that never get diagnosed properly and now I've been prescribed loads of Losec that I don't need!! Anyway, I've seen a specialist and am on track to getting better, so it's business as usual although I apologise now for the coughing fits during phone consultations! I knew the diagnosis was wrong - sometimes you just have to trust your instincts!

sleeplng Beauties

sleeplng Beauties
This Daily Mail article caught my eye - Alice Gould takes photos of newborn babies.  She says she loves the simplicity of new-borns. For me there is something so special and beautiful in seeing a baby entering the world. For many new parents, the sight of their newborn peacefully asleep is one to behold - a moment to savour and a short respite from constant rounds of feeds and nappy changing. Dispelling the myth that sleep is an alien concept to newborns, New Jersey photographer Alicia Gould has captured these heartwarming moments in a ...
